BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Legacy Wall, a traveling exhibit featuring stories of LGBT individuals who have made a significant impact in the world, will be coming to The Ames Library at Illinois Wesleyan University Jan. 31 through Feb. 13. An opening reception is scheduled for Jan.
Making its conference debut at Creating Change 2016, “The Legacy Wall” is a traveling tradeshow-sized iteration of Chicago’s award-winning “Legacy Walk” outdoor LGBT History Museum which spans one-half mile of Boystown on Chicago’s north side.
From musicians to engineers, scientist and activists, The Legacy Wall is a portable display that lists the achievements and life stories of 125 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people throughout history.
The Legacy Wall, a traveling interactive LGBT history exhibit, will be on display on the main floor of Illinois State University’s Milner Library February 15-27.
Since early 2012, the Chicago-based Legacy Project LGBT History endeavor has been partnering with Illinois Safe Schools Alliance to provide opportunities for the state's GSAs to come and tour the award-winning "Legacy Walk" outdoor LGBT museum.
On Oct. 17, The Legacy Project—the world's only outdoor LGBT museum walk—concluded its Phase IV dedication celebration at Sidetrack. Scott Duff and Ellen Miller from WCPT's "Out! Chicago" show co-hosted.
The Legacy Wall debuted in Springfield last week. The exhibit, which recounts the stories of important and influential lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender figures in American history and in Illinois, was unveiled at the Illinois State Library.
