This early-childhood exploration of Alan Turing represents the Legacy Project's efforts to quadfurcate its current 4-part lesson plan PDFs into 4 separately focused html treatments. This will allow for a more in-depth experience for students and teachers alike at the various grade levels covered under each treatment. This version, which is age-appropriate for K-G2, features a simplified biography and several multimedia approaches to explaining the nature of Turing's work and why his legacy endures.
This is a Lesson Plan Gateway to additional URL content and 2nd-/3rd-Party content that has been tailored specifically for Kindergarten students. The emphasis is on understanding the many ways people can become heroes and how history has been written to overlook some people because they are different in a way that makes learning about them a challenge. Students are encouraged to appreciate different types of people; to understand that respecting those who are different from you takes nothing away from being proud of who YOU are; and to empathize with those whose differences are used against them to make them feel bad about themselves.
