Leonardo Da Vinci Marble Statue

On Saturday October 12, 2024 the Legacy Project will host the 12th Annual Dedication of Chicago’s Legacy Walk Outdoor LGBTQ History Museum.

LEONARDO DA VINCI

A genius by every conceivable measure, Leonardo Da Vinci envisioned advanced engineering, machine computation, solar power, plate tectonics, the study of anatomy, optics, and hydrodynamics centuries before modern science would prove him right.  Gifted with an insatiable curiosity about how things worked, Da Vinci honed his art by capturing in exquisite detail virtually every aspect of the world around him. Not only a master of perspective line drawing, he perfected a muted style of portraiture that produced reflected depth through the application of thousands of slightly tinted, nearly transparent brushstrokes. He is considered to be the greatest artist of all time; with his Last Supper and Mona Lisa among the most famous paintings ever created.  The quintessential “Renaissance Man,” the scope and depth of his interests were without precedent.
