Sgt. Leonard Matlovich has long been an inspiration to those of us in the gay veteran effort to influence the military to allow lgbt persons to serve openly. We visit his grave site in the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C. whenever we are there, either attending or organizing a memorial in his memory. The Legacy Walk will ensure that all may appreciate what he accomplished in his efforts in the 1970s to gain acceptance for gay people serving in the military.
